Christophe Delcourt

Christophe Delcourt (1966– ) is a visionary French furniture designer, celebrated for sculptural architectural seating paired with masterful artisanal upholstery. Born outside Paris into a craft-focused family, he abandoned theatre studies to train alongside cabinetmakers and upholsterers before launching his independent studio in 1996.
In the late 1990s, Delcourt began his iconic long-term collaboration with Italian luxury brand Baxter, defining the brand’s restrained sculptural furniture language. Experimenting with layered plywood frames and graded polyurethane foam, he pioneered balanced geometric soft seating forms. His early architectural lounge prototypes laid groundwork for his celebrated Jodie collection.
Unveiled in 2023 at Milan Design Week, the Jodie Chair—angular interlocking frame, fully foam padded and curved high back—redefined contemporary Italian dining seating. Its signature dual removable cushion silhouette earned global design acclaim and remains a brand core staple.
