Designer's Story
Jean Royère (1902–1981) was an iconic French interior architect and furniture designer, a leading figure of mid-20th-century French modern design. Born in Paris, he initially worked in finance before discovering his passion for design in his late twenties. He fully devoted himself to the creative field in 1931 and quickly made a name for himself in Paris’s artistic circles.
Royère established his own studio and gained wide recognition for elegant, fluid designs that blended modern simplicity with refined craftsmanship. His works featured soft curves, delicate lines and luxurious materials, standing out from mainstream functionalism. He undertook numerous high-end residential and commercial projects across Europe, the Middle East and South America.
His signature furniture pieces, including curved sofas and sculptural armchairs, are highly sought-after by collectors today. Though his career was affected by World War II, he kept innovating until his later years. Royère’s distinctive aesthetic continues to inspire contemporary interior design worldwide.
