Designed in 1969 by Afra & Tobia Scarpa, the Soriana is a landmark of Italian modernism.
It redefined comfort by replacing traditional frames with an exposed steel cradle, embracing soft foam volumes.
Winner of the 1970 Compasso d’Oro, it embodied the relaxed, informal spirit of late-’60s living.
Today, its sustainable reissue honors the original’s radical simplicity and sculptural softness—an icon reborn for contemporary homes.

Designer's Story
Afra Bianchin (1937–2024) and Tobia Scarpa (b. 1935) were a legendary Italian husband-and-wife design duo.
Both studied architecture at the University of Venice, founding their studio in Montebelluna in 1960.
The son of architect Carlo Scarpa, Tobia paired technical innovation with sensual, organic forms.
Together, they created iconic works for Cassina, Flos, and Knoll, blending craft, material research, and modernist rigor.
Their 1969 Soriana sofa - an icon of 1970s Italian design - remains their most celebrated creation.
