He trained in interior design at the Zurich School of Applied Arts (1952–1955) under Willy Guhl, then worked in Zurich and Helsinki, honing his architectural sensibility.

In 1958 Klug moved to Paris, collaborating with sculptor François Stahly and attending Jean Prouvé’s lectures, which deepened his respect for material innovation. After serving as technical director at a Swiss sanitaryware firm, he settled permanently in Paris in 1966, later founding his independent studio in 1972.

Renowned for the iconic 1973 Terrazza sofa (for De Sede)—a modular, landscape-inspired seating system—he also created the award-winning Shell cabinet.
